Diving in the Beautiful Philippines

We are going back to the Philippines to experience beautiful diving in these tropical Pacific waters.  This underwater area is the most bio-diverse area of the world! Where to begin? Our first stop will be the land-based area of enchanting Dumaguete, home to the world renowned Apo Island Reef area.  This marine sanctuary holds a multitude of large, prolific corals, sponges, clownfish, giant clams, a whirlwind of many colorful fish, large and small, blacktip/whitetip sharks, dolphins, as well as the small pretty nudibrachs. In 2009 our group watched the incredible mating dance of the mandarin fish on a shore dive in front of our resort!  The area around our Bahura Resort and Spa offers a mixture of excellent shore diving and diving from bancas (Philippine boats).  The Bahura Resort is a tropical sanctuary, tastefully designed in the heart of a large beachside coconut plantation. The deluxe spacious rooms boast of oversized beds, mini-bar, TV/DVD players, and coffee/tea makers.  All is lush and serene, with land-based tours available.  Mountains, underground caves, crater lakes, and waterfalls make for wonderful add-on excursions.

Tubbataha Reef Area by Luxury Live Aboard

The adventure continues at our second stop, the Tubbataha Reefs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the Sulu Sea area of the Philippines!  This area, only accessible by live aboard from February - June, offers some of the best diving you are ever likely to come across anywhere in the world!  Awesome walls, flourishing reefs, big schooling fish, even a couple of wrecks, and remote serenity make a trip to Tubbataha unforgettable.  Mantas and other rays, many shark varieties, turtles, huge schools of pelagics...every dive is a new adventure!  We'll be leaving for this area, which is 110 miles offshore, from Puerto Princesa. Our live aboard will be the Atlantis Azores, a luxury dive yacht.  On board, we will have exceptional dive briefings, excellent accommodations and service, and delicious food.  All part of a fabulous dive adventure!
